To celebrate our 80th anniversary this year, we have launched a brand-new campaign called The Future is Vegan, which looks forward to what the next 80 years of the vegan movement will bring.
What do our campaigns focus on?
The Vegan Society works hard to promote the benefits of veganism to different audiences through our campaigns. All of our campaigns are informed by our organisational strategy and specific objectives in mind, and are usually aimed at a particular audience.
We’ve tagged each campaign to help you to understand the theme and objective.
Policy
Whilst every individual can make a difference, we’ll never truly reach a vegan world without systemic change. Our policy focussed campaigns generally have a key ‘ask’ calling for legislative change to support vegans and a transition to veganism.
Public
Our public-facing campaigns are driving behaviour change towards veganism. We know that different people will respond to different messages, and with so many benefits of veganism to talk about, we tailor them to each audience.
Health
We promote the message that everyone can be healthy on a well-planned vegan diet. Sometimes that means encouraging vegans to adopt healthier more nutritious diets, as well as reassuring non-vegans that they can eat plants and thrive.
Animals
Of course rejecting the exploitation of animals is at the heart of everything we do, so there’s no surprise that it’s the key message in our biggest ever campaign investment, Future Normal.
Environment
The environment is high on the political agenda so you’ll see some of our Policy campaigns in this space. Animal agriculture is harming the planet so we’re making the case that a shift to vegan diets is one of the most important lifestyle changes people can make.
Agriculture
Using our land to farm animals is inefficient and bad for the environment. We’re envisioning new landscapes where animals are living freely and farmers are farming plants.
Inclusivity
Sadly we still need to make the case that vegans are protected by the Equality Act and require the same access to food and lifestyle items as everyone else.
Conscious Choices shows that veganism goes beyond food and helps animal lovers to opt for products, such as cosmetics, which are kinder to animals.
Follow the hashtag #ConsciousChoices on social media to join the conversation!
Improving vegan options will not only make life easier for you, but will also help others along the journey to go vegan.
Whether you’re a business looking for support or a customer looking to encourage local businesses to improve their options, we have updated and created new resources to support you.
We’re aiming to challenge the idea that vegan living is expensive and ensure that whatever your budget, you can thrive as a vegan. This campaign supports vegans on a budget with a host of affordable recipes and tips for low-budget living. We’re also looking at ways that government policies can support the affordability of fruit and vegetables and other healthy vegan foods.
Share your low budget recipes with us! We need your top tips on wallet-friendly vegan living.
We’re aiming to improve the quality and availability of vegan food in public sector settings. Our campaign supports public sector institutions like hospitals, schools, and prisons to offer more and better vegan food and asks for legislation to mandate a vegan option in every institution.
Write to your Council to explain the many benefits of offering more vegan food in their local area.

Elections are a great time to spread awareness of vegan-friendly policies. We provide tools for you to contact your candidates in advance of local or national elections to try and get their support.
If you have an election coming up contact your candidates with our key questions.
Our Climate Emergency campaign asks politicians to recognise the role of veganism in tackling the climate crisis. Bringing together content from our other environmental campaigns, our policy briefing has some concrete measures that can be taken up by government along with handy banner designs for vegan climate campaigners.
If you’re attending a climate related event or protest wave our banners high and proud.
The Grow Green campaign aims to change policy to tackle the problems we face with a shift away from animal farming and towards plant protein agriculture and other sustainable forms of land management.
Email your political representatives to make the case for a transition to genuinely sustainable farming.
We want to see fortified plant milk recognised as an alternative to animal milk, wherever animal milk is currently supported or promoted in nutritional public health initiatives for children.
You can get involved in the campaign in a number of ways. By writing to the government and other institutions to highlight this issue, by sharing your experiences of discrimination, or by sharing twitter hashtags around World Plant Milk Day and School Milk Day.
Making #OneLittleSwitch can help us tackle greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, biodiversity loss and water pollution. Download our FREE eBook to help you to get started!
Share our content! There’s a raft of interactive tools on the website from our food carbon calculator to our climate cubes game.
Veganuary is probably the movement’s most successful campaign ever, so we’re delighted to be a partner! There’s never a better time than now to start your vegan journey, but if you need some additional help then go for it in January. Veganuary provides an email a day for a month to help you on your way.
Spread the word – Veganuary is a time of great positivity for veganism so the perfect month to ask your friends and family to give it a try.
We are calling for animal-free alternatives to prescription medicines to be made more widely available.
Share you experiences with us by emailing campaigns[at]vegansociety[dot]com – perhaps your pharmacist helped you find animal-free medication, or you had a challenging conversation with a health professional.
