March 2015 sees the Vegfest team kicking of their yearly trio of festivals with their 2 day Brighton extravaganza. This year the Brighton Centre will play host to this fantastic weekend long event celebrating all things vegan.
There is so much going on this year that 2 days might not be enough to fit it all in! As well as the incredible range of stalls where you can try and buy all kinds of vegan products, there is also a jam-packed schedule of entertainment, talks, demos and more.
Both days will feature the UK Vegan Comedy festival, the Lifewell Hub, speed dating, live music, a massage area, a kids activity area, film screenings and a huge range of talks and demos. To hear more about our work and our ambassadors, check out the following talks and demos:
- Saturday at 1pm, Vegan Society trademark holders, Shambhu's, will be giving an African Fusion cooking demo.
- Saturday at 3pm, in the Lifestyle and Campaigns section, our CEO Jasmijn de Boo will be giving a talk on Vegan Business, Brand and the Bottom Line - Trends and Success Stories.
- Saturday at 6.15pm, in the Lifestyle and Campaigns section, we will be giving a talk on how you can contribute to the governance of The Vegan Society by becoming a Trustee.
- Sunday at 1pm, in the Nutrition and Health section, Vegan Society ambassador, Fiona Oakes, will be talking about her recent 777 quest
On Saturday there will also be a Party Political Conference in the lead up the the General Election and our Senior Advocacy and Policy officer, Amanda Baker, will be there to answer your questions on the key election issues. As well as moderating discussions with Kerry McCarthy from the Labour party, Caroline Allen from the Green Party and Chris Bowers from the Liberal Democrats throughout the day, Amanda will also be running 'Have your say' workshops at 11:30am and 3:30pm. These will show you the best way to talk about animal-friendly solutions with MP hopefuls in your area. If you want to raise awareness of veganism with your local politicians, but need a little encouragement or some tips on how to get started, be sure to drop-in and find out more.
Sunday sees the very first Global Food Sustainability Conference to feature at Vegfest. This brand-new conference focuses on food sustainability at both a local and Global level. Once again, our Senior Advocacy and Policy officer, Amanda Baker, will be there from 11.40 until 12.45 talking about stock-free farming and growing low on the food chain for local and global food security.
