The Research Advisory Committee

Encouraging collaboration between The Vegan Society as a community of practice and academia:

The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) supports staff and trustees of The Vegan Society by conducting and sharing academic and other scientific research relevant to veganism. Committee members give specialist advice, act as peer reviewers, recommend references, and support our research and campaigns activities by ensuring our work is academically robust.

The RAC helps The Vegan Society to:

  • link up with UK and international universities and research networks
  • develop theoretical and empirical research into the benefits of veganism
  • promote knowledge-transfer
  • collect data and provide insights
  • advise on quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • pursue joint funding opportunities for research or outreach
  • influence student research projects on specific areas of interest
  • support postgraduate members of the Researcher Network

And The Vegan Society supports the RAC to:

  • foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and relationships e.g. environment and health
  • improve networking with other researchers in the same discipline
  • be involved in public engagement and understanding
  • assist with funding opportunities for research or outreach
  • access research participants and promote vegan-related research projects via our social media channels

The Research Advisory Committee is co-ordinated by Research Assistant, Alex Huntley, Research & Impact Manager, Dr Lorna Fenwick McLaren, and RAC Chair, Dr Richard Twine. If you would like more information about becoming a member of the Committee, please contact Alex with a brief biography and your research expertise/interests. Please note that members of the RAC are not volunteers for The Vegan Society and do not speak on The Vegan Society's behalf.
