Melda Ece Kelemcisoy is a scholar-activist, translator, and PhD researcher at the Open University in the United Kingdom. Her research interests include the organisation of the animal rights movement, critical animal studies, and vegan sociology. She studied Politics and Sociology at Durham University and completed a British Council-funded master’s in Management from Newcastle University, focusing on animals and business ethics. Melda has been a passionate animal advocate since her time at university and has worked in various volunteer campaigns and community organising roles in the UK and Turkey, with organisations including Animal Equality, The Humane League, and The Save Movement. She has written about animal rights, veganism, and activism, both academically and for the public, including for The Vegan Society’s magazine, The Vegan.
