Sandwiches

  • sliced tofu
  • bean pâté (e.g. butterbean and herb)
  • sliced tempeh

Casseroles and stews

  • many varieties of beans
  • vegan sausages
  • peas

Salads (pay particular attention to ensuring protein - and carbohydrate - content if serving a salad as a main dish)

  • many varieties of nuts and seeds (e.g. cashews, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds)
  • marinated or smoked tofu pieces
  • beans such as chickpeas, cannellini beans, butter beans, black beans or pinto beans

Indian-style curries

  • include a lentil or chickpea dhal as one of a selection of dishes
  • mixed vegetable curries which also include lentils or chickpeas
